A:  All of our Board Members and staff are volunteers.

A: We get our donations from community organizations and individual sources.

A quick Internet search of "military food pantries" will confirm that.  Times are difficult for everyone.

Q: Is Ma Otis's Pantry the reason military families on Cape Cod can't get Cost of Living Allowances (COLA)?

A: No. The fact most military members and their families are not eligible for COLA here on the Cape is the reason the pantry was started. COLA is not determined by the local command or even by the Coast Guard, rather it is based on legislation that is periodically reviewed by all the Services.

CONUS COLA is available to those who are assigned to locations where the price of a "basket of good and services" exceeds 108 per cent of the national average."
