This is in response to a flood of e-mails and calls.

Q: Are flu shots available for government civilians yet?

A: The influenza vaccine assigned to this facility by the Coast Guard and the State Of Mass. has an assigned order for distribution.  At this time, we must ensure that approximately 2500 Active Duty and Reserve Coast Guard personnel are vaccinated and operationally ready.

The answer is NO for civilian employees--for now.  But they should not wait for us--the community health departments/schools will be offering them for free; pharmacies charge a small fee if there is no insurance coverage and most primary care providers will have it available.

Tricare beneficiaries:
If you are in a high-risk group or wish to receive the vaccine earlier, please contact your civilian TRICARE Primary Care Manager, call 1-877-363-1303, or click here to find the nearest participating network pharmacy for the vaccine at NO COST. 

If stockpiles remain available later in the fall, and are released for use by the state, we will notify Local Commands via E-MAIL as groups of beneficiaries become eligible for the vaccine. Please DO NOT CALL THE CLINIC Front Desk, as this is our primary appointment line. Any questions or concerns may be directed to me through our Health Benefits office at: extension 6580.
